Neste artigo, investigamos a codificação multinível e a decodificação multiestágio para transmissão via satélite com complexidade de decodificação moderada. Um particionamento de conjunto de sinais não convencional é usado para obter capacidades desiguais de proteção contra erros. Duas possibilidades são mostradas e analisadas para sistemas práticos: (i) códigos de componentes de blocos lineares com decodificação quase ótima, (ii) códigos de componentes convolucionais perfurados com uma estrutura de treliça comum.

Abstract: In this paper, we investigate multilevel coding and multistage decoding for satellite broadcasting with moderate decoding complexity. An unconventional signal set partitioning is used to achieve unequal error protection capabilities. Two possibilities are shown and analyzed for practical systems: (i) linear block component codes with near optimum decoding, (ii) punctured convolutional component codes with a common trellis structure.
